Joy & Hope Bakery is surrounded by wheat fields and its roof is full of solar panels. It is such an inconspicuous place and we even got lost when looking for it. But a strong appetizing flavor of flour was coming from it and the bread chef there was very hospitable. Moreover, Mr. Shih, who is both the director and worker, gave us a very big smile and a very detailed introduction.
The purpose of this visit for us was not to buy breads but to learn to make breads. Mr. Shih demonstrated several operation steps to us. By doing so, he told us that he was not only the director but also the worker. Because he was not just responsible for management, but making breads and other trivia as well. The students happily kneaded the dough. It was the first time for most of them and they were curious about whether it would be a success. Through this visit to Joy & Hope Bakery, the students not only learned how to make breads, but also a lot of knowledge. It was really a rewarding experience.
