On the January 30, 2010, the whole team left school and headed for Joy & Hope Wheat, where we would interview Mr. Ming-huang Shih. Upon arrival, what came into our sight first was a very ordinary building. A man with big laugh and black skin welcomed us. He was Mr. Ming-huang Shih. He asked us to be seated and asked whether we wanted coffee. He told us to be at home. He was easy-going and nice, just like a family member. Then Mr. Shih started to elaborate on the origin, development and visions of Joy & Hope Wheat. We enjoyed his introduction and took notes attentively, fearing to leave out anything.

    Mr. Ming-huang Shih has a background in engineering and is the director of “Joy & Hope Wheat”. His position as director is very awe-arousing. He was both the principal and the door ringer. From this we can see his dedication to the wheat industry .The research topic of Dong Nan Joy & Hope Wheat Team is “To do one thing for Taiwan’s Agricultural-Joy & Hope Wheat”.     On December 6th, 2014, Mr. Shih had his own sunlight power and wheat milling plant. The machines in Joy & Hope Workshop Wheat Milling Plant changed wheat into flour. The processes include adding wheat, selection, miniaturization, milling, inspection, allocation and the packaging of fished products. Minor farmers can then take their own wheat to Joy & Hope milling plant to make flours. But to mill, the wheat must be over 30 kgs. It is of great significance to eat safe food grown by oneself, especially when it is national food.

    Joy & Hope Bakery are surrounded by wheat fields and have many solar panels on the roof. This is a small place and we were even lost when looking for it. But it has strong flavor of flour. The bread chef was very hospitable. Mr. Shih, who is both director and worker, has very big laughs and gave us a very detailed introduction.

       In the season when wheat matures, the wheat field would be like a vast ocean as far as the eye can see. The plump golden spikes dance to the wind. The wheat is like rising and falling waves. What a poetic scene! These could only been seen in foreign scenery videos scenery film or movies in the old days. But in recent years, wheat fields can also be seen in Dacheng Township in the south of Changhua. It has an area of 100 hectares, which is very spectacular. Dacheng’s wheat offers the citizens an access to the healthiest and most natural cereals, freeing them from the dependence on imported frumentum.

    The teachers of Yunlin County Dong Nan Junior High School led 9 students to join in Cyberfair with the topic To do one thing for Taiwan’s Agricultural-Joy & Hope Wheat this year. On the 17th, we went to the 3rd floor of Changhua government building to visit the head of the county Mr. Ming-ku Wei. Mr. Huang of Department of Agriculture and President Hsun-te Cho of Yue-Ying Elementary School accompanied us. The students expected to know more about the plans for the planting of Dacheng Wheat and Changhua’s farming and tourism industry through this visit.
