In 1999, Joy & Hope Bakery was established by a group of disabled people who hoped to build a company which stood by the notion of a self-sufficiency. In 2007, the international financial crisis had brought the price of wheat to a sky rocket high. The Joy & Hope Workshop grew its own local wheat and established the Joy & Hope Contracted Farmers' Group, which opened an opportunity for the re-introduction of wheat plantation in Taiwan. In 2011, in the hope to encourage farmers to take part in crop rotation and activate soil fertility, the Joy & Hope Soybean Team was established. Furthermore, in order to push government agricultural agencies to change Taiwan's fallow agriculture policy, in 2012, the Joy & Hope Grain Club was established to accomplish the dream of a farming village with crops of diversity. A notion which brought new life to the high manpower dependent sesame crops. In 2013, officially integrated the production of bread with agriculture products and became Joy & Hope Workshop, another name for Joy & Hope Community Cooperative.
