Through actual observation records, consultation and interviews Joy & Hope Fantasy established the foundation to Wheat farming management.

       In 2007, it was the biggest fluctuation in commodity price since the 1973 first oil crisis in Taiwan. 1973. The price of raw materials such as corn, wheat, and soybean had risen as never before. External factors forced Joy and Hope Workshop to cooperate with the wheat farmers of Daya District, Taichung City established the Joy & Hope Fantasy, Wheat contract project. Through records of observations, consultation and interviews the foundation of wheat farming management was established.

       For the following years we kept on, even though the price for imported wheat had dropped. We had faith in the wheat contract project and we never doubted it. In 2010, in the hope to continue the possibilities of wheat production we expanded cold storage facilities, added roasting machines, and powder filling and packaging machines. We fought to promote the idea of the mini economy “grown locally, processed locally, consumed locally”. In 2011, we accomplished the dream of  planting wheat in circular fields and we also have three plots which have organic certification. We challenge the curse that Taiwan isn't suitable for wheat planting!

        We had the intuition that Joy & Hope Fantasy will become a social movement for Taiwan's agricultural community.  “When the actions we believed to be reasonable and rational for the purpose of our survival became irrational in the eyes of others” it is time for us to respond to the call of the movement. We sincerely invite you to join us in this out of ordinary social movement!

       Wheat has a profound place in Taiwan's history and it was also part of the memories of the people 's hardship after a war. However, for the country's exchange of weaponry and interests, the nation's production of wheat, soybeans, and corn were compromised. In the coming of extreme environmental changes, the decision of using the extensive but low-input low energy “rainfed cultivation”, “multipurpose cultivation” or “crop rotation” are inevitable choices which the farmers will have to make. It is also the best solution to the self-sufficiency rate!

       In 2009 the contracted farmers of the “Joy & Hope Fantasy 3.0” contract project was confirmed. Contracted location included Yuanshan Township (Yilan County), Yuanli Township (Miaoli County), Daya District (Taichung City), Fangyuan Township (Changhua County), and Xuejia District (Tainan City). All five regions had began cultivating and the constructing of the Joy & Hope Wheat Production Record System also began in construction as planned.

       On January 23 and March 13 of 2010, The Wheat Field Fantasy Encore Concert was held at Fangyuan Township of Changhua County; an event which included nearby elementary schools, Changhua Strings Alliance, Homemaker Union Consumers Co-op. Apart from sharing of experiences on the planting of wheat, the self entertaining aspect of the common people were also apparent. Joy & Hope Fantasy 3.0 harvested close to 25 tons in wheat and had entrusted Chi Fha Flour to process into flour which had been a great leap for local wheat in the milling aspect.

A Tour with the Good Farmers – Joy & Hope Wheat contracted Farmers cross country exchange tour

        In October 2010, Joy & Hope Fantasy 4.0 fulfilled its dream of planting wheat across the nation. The contracted cultivation land yield 22.9 hectares and 44 farmers participated.  In 2011, from January 7 to 9, with the cooperation of various wheat fields across the country, a cross nation exchange tour for the farmers, “A Tour with the Good Farmers” was held. Wheat planting became a hot topic among the  people of its origin of production.

       On August 2011, the proposal of the “one ten thousandth” project was brought forward which Joy & Hope Fantasy 5.0 had set a production yield of one ten thousandth of the total wheat import which equal to 120 MT as its goal. Joy & Hope Fantasy 5.0 took more aggressive actions into the integrating of processing resources and continue to expand cultivating area.

       Of the various events held by Joy & Hope Fantasy the “Learning in the Wheat Field” project is one of the most far-reaching and influential of them all. Food education is one of the most significant element to environmental education. Joy & Hope Wheat Farmers’ Group cooperated with the National Federation of Teachers Unions (NFTU) invited over 40 nearby elementary schools, one senior agriculture high school, and three self-learning agencies within the district of the contracted wheat fields to take part in activities which they took part in farming, get to know the farmers, and get in touch with the soil. They get to take part in a movement established by the common people. Through the instructions of professional teachers, the children learned to work with their hands, observe and experience knowledge relative to wheat. This helped the children to have a better understanding of the local wheat of Taiwan.

2012.12.13  For Joy & Hope Fantasy 6.0—Toward Wheat 200, the Taichung District Agricultural Research and Extension Station invited Japanese expert breeder, Professor Otobe Chikako, to give a lecture on “Wheat breeding strategies in Japan”..

2013 “Wheat Field Musical Concert – A Symphony of Mountain and Sea” was held in Chiayi's Shinmei Tribe of Alishan Township and Dongshi Township's Shiji Organic Farm. One of the concert was held in the mountains and the other by the sea. This was why we called the concert A Symphony of Mountain and Sea.

       2014-2015 In the Joy & Hope Fantasy 8.0 project emphasis was placed on the increase of on production and marketing of contracted organic certified wheat. First, gave promotional briefing on production of organic wheat and its strict criterion.
