On January 30th, 2010, the whole team left school and headed for Joy & Hope Wheat. We were to visit Mr. Ming-huang Shih at Joy & Hope Wheat. Upon arrival, what came into our sight first was a very ordinary building. A man with big laugh and black skin welcomed us. He was Mr. Ming-huang Shih. He asked us to be seated and asked whether we wanted coffee. He told us to be at home. He was easy-going and nice, just like a family member. Then Mr. Shih started to elaborate on the origin, development and visions of Joy & Hope Wheat. We enjoyed his introduction and took notes attentively, fearing to leave out anything.
In the end, we visited Joy & Hope Wheat plant. The tools inside were neatly set out. Even the broom does not touch the floor and are managed according different colors. We also observed the process of how the wheat was changed into flour. We saw the neat workshop was producing wheat products. We also saw food made from wheat and soy sauce made from soybean in the store house. We were visiting the plant; we saw the products were delivered. We saw boxes of identified organic food being sent to consumers' houses.
Through this visit we gained a lot of insight into Joy & Hope Wheat. Our theoretical and practical abilities were enhanced. It is help to the further development of our research.
