【The
Origin of Paochung Tea】
With Taiwan’s unique tea making method,
Paochung tea, grown north Taiwan, is one of Taiwan’s
representatives. Paochung tea leaves is twist shape, bright
green in color, floral flavor, and heavy and thick. Paochung
tea is famous for its aroma. The stronger the aroma is, the
higher the quality is. Paochung tea in Wenshan has the superior
quality and excellent aroma. Therefore, it is called Wenshan
Paochung tea. Wenshan tea plantation region includes Wenshan
and Nangang District, Taipei City, and Xindian, Pinglin,
Shihding, Shenkeng and Sijhih District, New Taipei City. It has
about 2,300 hectares and distributes on mountains at an altitude
over 400 meters, with distinctive environment. Pinglin, New
Taipei City, has beautiful natural beauty, mild climate, and
fertile soil.

ITOPI
In its early days, Taiwan only produced one
tea variety, Oolong tea, which is good for domestic sales and
export sales. Since the 12th year of Tongzhi reign (1873),
Taiwan’s tea industry had been affected by the recession of
world tea industry and the export sales of tea decreased
sharply. Because the tea price in Taiwan was higher than that of
any other areas, Taipei five foreign companies which exported
Oolong tea stopped purchasing tea leaves. Oolong tea had no
profit and market. Tea dealers brought Oolong tea to Fuzhou and
was reformed to Paochung tea, called floral scented tea

Origin of The Name, Paochung Tea】
More
than 150 years, Wang Yicheng from Quanzhou, Anxi, Fujian,
invented Paochung tea and promoted and instructed tea making
method. He imitated the tea making method of Wuyi Rock Tea to
make Anxi tea. Two pieces of Fujian raw paper were folded into
a rectangle when teas were wrapped inside. After that, it would
be stamped the name of the tea and the company outside. Then,
those teas were exported to Southeast Asia via Xiamen or shipped
to Fuzhou. Nowadays, there is a new meaning referring to
exam-takers will enroll their ideal schools

Varieties and Tea Making Methods】
Chinshin Oolong variety is a hand-plucked
