　　Most of the historic sites in Chia-yi have become the places for people to visit on holidays. However, Chiayi Old Prison, officially defined as national historical monument, is almost deserted. For those who know little about prisons, it may be a gloomy place without freedom or laughter. Is it true? The society bounded by the high walls deserves our exploration.

　　From the history of the jail, we know the prison in the past is meant to punish the prisoners' misdeeds. Nowadays the goal is to teach and guide the prisoners so that they can adjust their behaviors and purify their minds. Moreover, the prisoners can have a chance to learn professional skills there.

　　Old Chiayi Prison has been reformed with time. How can it reach such a supreme goal? What is its management system? What is the plan for restoration and reusing the remaining historical monument? Therefore, our team would like to do further research and reveal its history step by step. We hope to make people know more about Old Chiayi Prison through words and pictures.
