The owners Chen Guo Huang and Chen Pei Ru are neither drillmasters nor mainlanders. They are appraised for the dishes that they cook for the elders from the military villages. Their dishes also come at a low price, ranging from fifteen NT dollars to eighty NT dollars.

Older residents of Douliu will remember that there was a vendor named “Province Noodles” located on Wenhua Road, 30 years ago. It was run by a retired drillmaster from Douliu High School. The business was shut down as the building was demolished.

“I have eaten at every noodle stand in Douliu, and this one is second to none.” After retiring as an Airforce sergeant, Mr. Chen Guo Huang took over the business and transferred to Zhendong Road. He pointed at the plain noodles and said: “The soup’s color is dark, like beef noodle soup, but this is made from boiled pork bones.” The sixty-five dollar braised noodles and the plain noodles have earned the title “king of noodles”.

Apart from its food, the store also boasts a valuable collection of memorabilia, and the dents in one of the walls have naturally taken the shape of a world map. This is also definitely worth a look.
