Chih-Cheng Hsu (1919-1998), whose art name was Green Manor Owner, was a famous gentleman in Lukang. He served as City Council Member twice. He studied at Wenkai Academy when he was young, and was a famous scholar in Lukang, as well as the disciple of well-known teacher Mr. Te-hsuan Tsai. He also endeavored to pass down Han culture. Wen-ping Shih, Chou-chiang Hsu, and Ching-tung Hsu, etc. all were his disciples. He wrote Sword Spirt Poetry Collection, etc. and founded “Wenkai Poetry Club” with his disciples. Afterward, he also founded “Lukang Literature and Painting Club,” which is currently the “Lukang Poetry, Literature and Painting Society.”
A1: At the age of 8, Mr. Hsu passed the admission examination to study at Wenkai Academy. However, after the First Sino-Japanese War, Taiwan was ceded to Japan. Japan assigned Prince Kitashirakawa Yoshihisa to take over Taiwan. Wenkai Academy was changed to the royal residence of Prince Kitashirakawa Yoshihisa, and all the students studying there left. Therefore,my grandmother was one of the last students studying at Wenkai Academy.

A2: Mr. Hsu was similar to a traditional poet who loves drinking and writing poetry. Moreover, he also enjoyed writing Chinese calligraphy, and opened Han culture learning class. He taught how to write Chinese in early days at Lukang Cultural Museum, and founded Wenkai Poetry Club.
A3: After Mr. Hsu passed away, his students collected his works and held 2 exhibitions in total. Several calligraphy collections were published, and his works were also displayed in other small exhibitions.
A4: Mr. Hsu served as City Council member twice, and was good at writing calligraphy. Many people came to ask him to write for them, and they knew that Mr. Hsu's calligraphy works were not for sale and he loved orchids. Therefore, people visiting him would send orchids as a gift to him, and Mr. Hsu would send them calligraphy works in return. There were so many orchids in the past, and an orchid garden was even built to take care of orchids. The garden was dismantled.
