In the Chinese novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, the weapon used by Guan Yu, the second sworn brother of Liu Bei, is named “Green Dragon Crescent Blade” with a weight of 81 jin (49.2 kg). Guan Yu killed many military generals using this weapon. Therefore, Green Dragon Crescent Blade is also called “Guandao” by the later generations. Besides, Guan Yu and Green Dragon Crescent Blade are viewed as the symbols of each other.

Red Hare was a well-known precious horse in the Records of the Three Kingdoms and Romance of the Three Kingdoms. In the “Romance of the Three Kingdoms,” Red Hare was traded from the West and was a rare horse that could run for a thousandkilometers a day. It originally belonged to Dong Zhuo, who sent it to Lu Bu to urge him to kill his sworn father Ding Yuan and become an ally of Dong Zhuo. Afterwards, Lu Bu was defeated in Xuzhou, and Red Hare was acquired by Cao Cao, who then attacked Liu Bei in Xuzhou. Liu Bei was defeated, and his general Guan Yu was captured by Cao Cao. In order to persuade Guan Yu to join his league, Cao Cao sent Red Hare to Guan Yu. Afterwards, Guan Yu was defeated in Maicheng and killed by Lu Meng. Red Hare was sent to Ma Chung and then passed away because it refused to eat anything.
