At present, two ancient monuments are preserved in Wenkai Academy's left wing. One is "Prince Kitashirakawa Yoshihisa's Former House & Lukang Military Intelligence Inspection Site" written by the 18th Taiwan Governor Kiyoshi Hasegawa, and the other is "Monuments for Inspection of Lukang by Prince Kitashirakawa Yoshihisa" written by Syunsuke Morita, a county magistrate of Central Taiwan.

Wenkai Academy was changed by the Japanese government as Prince Kitashirakawa Yoshihisa's House during Japanese rule, so all the students in the academy had to leave to study in private schools or Japanese public schools.

Prince Kitashirakawa Yoshihisa, born in Kyoto, is the ninth child of Prince Fushimi Kuniie and Brother's son of Emperor Ninkō. During Meiji Restoration, he was promoted as emperor of east Wu. After being defeated during Boshin War, he was regarded by the imperial court as an opponent, and then arrest in Kyoto, shaved his hair and became a monk. In 1870, he was pardoned to resume secular life, and then went to Prussian military academy for further study. After returning home, he served as head of the Osaka division.
