Pork Rinds
The pork rind is a strange snack to us. When we came here to look for ideas, the pork rinds hanging on the wall attracted us. We may have tasted it before, but we didn’t know its delicious taste until today.
Origin of Pork Rinds
(Figure 1) The environmental awareness of the ancestors is also shown in the way they preserved food. They didn’t want to waste the pork skin, so they invented the method of making the delicious pork rinds for saving pork skins.
Changeable Pork Rinds
(Figure 2) Long time ago, people used to eat boiled pork skin for its simple taste. With the changing times, many delicious pork skin dishes have been created. Today, many snack shops in Lukang add pork rinds into their recipes to create a delicious taste.
Quality Assurance of the Pork Rinds
(Figure 3) The owner told us they are the only handmade pork rind store in Lukang, so their pork rinds are healthy and harmless, which shows the owner’s serious attitude towards food processing.
Postscript
The production process of pork rinds is complicated, but the profit is little. However, the owner still continues her production process in order to carry on the delicious taste and skill. She found we were not familiar with pork rinds, so she cut one into pieces to treat us, and invited us into her store to see the introduction on the wall and explained to us. We hope the owner’s selfless attitude can encourage people to value food safety as well as helping her complete her simple dream.
