Little Commentator
In order to help students and teachers know more about Lukang Old Street, we designed and made exhibition boards to show our work, which is a part of curriculum integration, and displayed them on the day our school celebrated its anniversary. We were the commentators during the exhibition. The following is the production process of the display board. We had laughter and tears during the process. Failure and mistakes made us grow. Our playtime got less, but we learned to get along with others.
Production Process
After interviews, we reorganized a large number of information and photos and made the exhibition boards to present our project on the day our school celebrated its anniversary. The process wasn’t easy. We worked on the project at the lunch breaks and the ninth class, but school exams were getting closer, so we had to spend time preparing for exams too, which slowed down our progress.
Friendly Classmates
When school exams were getting closer, all our classmates sacrificed lunch breaks to help us, which not only helped us speed up but also reduced our workload. Some posted photos, some colored pictures, and some traced lines. They never complained, only focusing on making the project better. We are touched and are very thankful. Without them, the work cannot be finished on time.
Being Thoughtful
When it was done, we were all relieved. We made the decision to hand in the work without asking our teachers’ opinions though. We also made a big mistake later on. The size of our classroom is only half of the regular ones, so it’s very crowded. Without the teachers’ permission, we moved all exhibition boards to the classroom, which blocked everyone’s way to reach the cleaning tools and trashcan. Our classmates sacrificed their nap to help us, but we caused troubles for them. Our teachers worried our Cyberfair project so much, but we kept on ignoring the teachers. We have hurt many people because we were not thoughtful. After the experience, we became more mature, and we have learned that if we are thoughtful, we could make the world better.
Exhibition Commentar
There were four molds, so we had four groups of two or three people. Each group used a mold. The classmate on the left side of the picture asked us how to make rice cake. The procedure is as follows: Soak rice for 3 hours, grind the soaked rice, cook it for 20 minutes, and steam it for another 20 minutes. I felt successful after giving the presentation. We appreciate that our teachers took us to visit places, so that we had the chance to learn the stories and history of Lukang Old Street.
Postscript
Due to curriculum integration, we spent time and energy making posters. During the process, we felt the love from our classmates and teachers, and learned a lot from mistakes. It’s not an easy job being an exhibition commentator since we had to answer many strange questions as well as preparing for it in advance. Luckily we recorded all interview contents, so we actually learned a lot more than others!
