Specialized Industries
Hundreds of years ago, Lukang was still an important distributing center of goods and materials in Taiwan, and the business transactions were still lively then. However, due to the impact of geographical environment transition, the footsteps of its development stagnated, the business could not be promoted, and even its cultural relics and heritage lost glory as time went by.
After many years, the Taiwanese economy leaped rapidly. In the fast transition of the society in this economic upsurge, Lukang gradually attracted people’s attention by preserving more complete heritages, traditional architectures, handicrafts, and folk life. Also, the pastry industry, fishing industry and carpentry, which were flourishing later became one of the main reasons that attracted people to Lukang for tourism.
