Candied Fruit
The Traditional Candied Fruit
Taiwanese ancestors already had the concept of cherishing things in daily life before the world started to value good environmental behavior.
The candied fruit is a good example. Not all plums were sweet, so our ancestors intelligently covered the sour plums with a layer of candy. They not only saved food but also created a popular desert for all ages!
Modern Candied Fruit
The times are changing, and so are the traditional deserts. In order to satisfy customers’ stomachs, the early single flavored candied fruit has transformed to today’s colorful candied fruit. Taiwan, rich in fruit, is known as “The Fruit Kingdom”, and the merchants of Lukang’s Yaolin Street maximize its potential and greatly upgrade tourists’ happiness.
They skewer strawberry, orange, tomato, and other fruit together and coat the fruit with syrup in order to increase the size and make candied fruit look more colorful. The combinations of sugarcoat and fruit flavors create the sight and taste impact. It’s really addictive!
Fine Packaging
In order to make the sugarcoat melt slower, the store covers each candied fruit with a sweet rice paper before storing into a paper bag, specially made for candied fruit, to increase brightness, keep the original shape, and prevent separation between fruit and bamboo stick. The design allows tourists to eat candied fruit while they walk as well as keeping tourists’ hands clean. Each little detail shows the store’s thoughtfulness.
