Current Condition

It is always very crowded at Lukang Old Street on holidays. The leisure pace and cultural preservation here is the best place for an urbanite to make a trip. The red brick floor, antique houses, and modern egg tart snack not only satisfies people who are looking for traditional culture, but also satisfies many eaters. The central square provides street artist performance to tourists. Lukang Old Street is a tourist spot integrating culture, arts, and snacks together.
Build the future
We hope that we can hold more activities to introduce Lukang Old Street, such as dough-figurine making classes, inviting various street artists from different places to perform in the square, some activities highlighting local culture, one-day tour, or guidance to visitors.
Problems they are facing

●During our visiting period, we found out the crowded problem at Old Street on holiday caused busy traffic. The street is very narrow in order to preserve the completion of culture, but this is also very inconvenient for tourists to walk through.
●Since there are many snack vendors and stores, tourists buy and eat their food and conveniently throw their garbage into Half Well when they walk by it. This keeps the owner of Half Well busy cleaning the well and ruins the beauty of cultural relics.

Improvement
●For the traffic problem, we suggest the government to build more parking lots. Tourists should not stay in front of the store after buying their food, and they should bring their food to the central square to watch the performance while eating. This could relieve crowded problem, and increase the audience for the splendid performance.
●Garbage problems can be reduced by setting up more garbage cans and painting on the garbage cans to increase the visual enjoyment of tourists. The owner of Half Well will be happier, and will not need to worry about garbage issues.

Expectation to Old Street future
We walked on Old Street numerous times during the interviewing period, and learned many inheritance culture and store stories. We hope Old Street’s prosperity can last forever, and its tradition can be preserved even when new elements are added. We hope that all hundred-year architectures and cultural relics can be protected well. Also, we hope that all tourists will have great time visiting here and experience the same touch as we did.
