I-bound promotion

 

1. Origin:

The reason for this on-campus promotion was because when we studied project websites, there were many students who did not know about Pingding Ancient Channel. Nonetheless they were all interested in Pingding Ancient Channel as well as to acquaint with Pingding Ancient Channel more. Hence under the discussion with the team, we decided to hold an on-campus promotion campaign in order to share our project research outcome with teachers and students in schools.

 

2. Time:

The last semester was more intense and we decided to conduct report after school begins. The time is scheduled for February 18, 2015, Thursday.

 

3. Report distribution:

Our project is divided into 10 small topics for reporting, so during the winter training, our teacher used drawing method to determine the briefing and report each person is responsively for making.

 

4. Briefing production and practice

The teacher first made an example to show us and he told us the details which we should pay attention to. We needed to grasp the key points for the report rather than a bunch of words. Choose photos for the theme while unifying the font style and size.   Each person is responsible to make 4 slides according to the theme responsible.After completing briefing production, the teachers lead us to practice. At the beginning we were unaccustomed and faced with various situations. Fortunately after repeated practice, we all could grasp the key point and practice better and better.

5. Project research on-campus promotion and report

At the beginning Director Li gave the opening to introduce our Cyberfair team and research theme to classmates. Later we reported in order and everyone was focused and quietly listening. Next was the a quiz contest that received enthusiastic question from the classmates. We were all relieved when we saw everyone’s recognition for out Cyberfair.

6. Suggestions and feedback

This is the first on-campus promotion in school and also our first time. Anxiety and errors are inevitable but the director praised us for our courage. Meanwhile he could perceive the efforts and growth from our report. He also expects us to take every opportunity and have one more time of learning.

7. Promotion and report review

To promote  Pingding Ancient Channel, we implemented “on-campus promotion” for 4th ~ 6th grades in school. When we practiced the day before, we all fully concentrated on the practice, one after the other. However I always asked myself: “Did I give all my bests? Why do I keep making the same mistake? Why couldn’t tell this simple sentence, “between Pingdeng Village and Xishan Village” smoothly? After I got off the stage, I would be reading the script and repeat in my mind constantly. After some days of practice, I finally got on stage. Although not the first time on stage, I was still very nervous. When I looked at the students down, I told myself not to waste practice, so I continued to speak my part. After I got off the state, teachers all applauded us and I felt fortunate that I had the teacher providing us with careful instruction so we could give this good presentation.

 

I think after this training, I have become more table and learned many skills on-stage. However I still could improve more on details and next time, if I could familiarize with the script more and speaker louder, then the repot results would be even more perfect.

 

Today is the day we gave promotion on project report. I arrived to school at 7:30 and was getting ready for promoting the project research. At the hall, I was very nervous, so I read and memorized the scrips over and over. My heart rate went up as I saw more and more 4th graders to 6th graders coming to the hall. When it was my turn, My heart was beating so fast and I could only take a breath to introduce to everyone. However, I still forgot some lines and said the wrong thing. It was embarrassing. I quickly got off the stage after completing the introduction. Then the other students also took turn to get up and report. I think they are quite stable and have loud voice, pronouncing every work clearly. These are parts which I need to improve and I could speak more publicly through this activity. This is also a rare and valuable experience, and I would like to thank the teachers for giving me this valuable opportunity.
