When we
were discussing at the beginning, we all agreed to put on several
surveys of channel visit on the website in the future. The teachers
explained to us that we would acquaint with local history and
ecology in future activities. Naturally we would present all reviews
of our survey process, and different experience and the website
production. Next, we all turned on the computer and checked the
information provided by Chi-Sing Irrigation Association. We
discovered that there is so much to learn about the building of
channel. For this part, we put the geographic location and origin of
the channel, and the introduction to relevant production process to
mind mapping. The teachers specifically reminded us that there are
abundant resources of animals and plants, so after much enthusiastic
discussion, we decide to classify channel ecology into one category.
However this is the first time all fifth graders participating in
the Cyberfair and we all decided to isolate one block for
discussion, reminding each other to pay attention to the integrity
of the content produced while making the website, if the color of
the website is clear and diverse enough. Moreover, we all have to
take consideration of inserting some lovely animation and lively
music in order to make the website more interesting. Finally we
added the introduction to the maintenance unit and completed our
mind mapping.

After
determining the theme of Cyberfair as “Pingding Ancient Channel,” we
started searching for information related to ancient channel and
discussed the content of mind mapping together, in order to verify
the themes for production of website. After our discussion, we all
agreed to place the following content to the website: The first one
is the basic introduction of “Pingding Ancient Channel” such as its
geographic location, building history, and which approach was
applied to build the channel. Under the instruction by the teacher,
we discovered that the local area of Pingding Ancient Channel
contains highly abundant animal and plant resources. So finally we
all decided to separate one block to introduce the local ecology.
After we place the above-mentioned content to the mind mapping, we
still think the website content is not enough and we were concerned
about what other key issues we should put in, one student discovered
that the channel is not only used for irrigation but also contains
function for species habitation, development ecology and education.
Such information was quite eye-catching and this is something merits
in-depth analysis for teams during production.
Finally
the teachers said that this activity received a lot of assistance
from the maintenance unit, Chi-Sing Irrigation Association, for
Pingding Ancient Channel in many areas, so the final introduction to
sponsors should include the Association into this theme. Moreover,
we will still need to participate in the “Biking For Miracles of
Irrigation” activity held by the Irrigation Association, where we
could acquaint with the different irrigation facilities with care
for the nature. So we will still need to provide certain
introduction. The mind mapping we discussed has thus been formed.
