      I didn’t know anything about surfing at the beginning of this competition. I was not familiar with the use of computer, either. I thought participating in this competition only requires us to use computer; nothing interesting is going to happen. However, I started to feel the difference after I joined the game. People say that you’ll never regret not doing something, but you will be a different person if you do, and this completely explained my experience. In the very first class when we were doing work division, I learned who are willing to devote time and effort, and who are not. I learned a lot from this competition; for example, I thought surfing is a sport that’s time-consuming, tiring and dangerous. After experiencing surfing, I find it interesting and exciting. It of course has some degree of danger, and that’s why it is necessary to have a qualified surfing coach around when trying out the sport.
      During this competition, we were asked to find a lot of information about surfing. The teacher divided the information-searching work for us, allowing us to bring our skills into full play through looking into different materials. Not only did this make the participants more intimate, it also taught us not to laugh at people for what they’re not good at because each person has his/her own strength in a field. The teacher also taught us some useful tips when searching for the data we need. For example, when we can’t find the information we want, we can change the search keyword by wording or adding space between words. This made the information searching very easy. The teacher also taught us how to take beautiful pictures through a better composition of the picture, such as the rule of thirds. I have never thought that a mere photo can be taken with so many different composition methods. I use to think that the efforts are unnecessary. But after the course, I learned that since a simple idea can make your pictures look a lot more beautiful, then why not do a little more? Attending the competition gave us a chance to learn new stuff, and it also gave us a great memory to remember our childhood lives. It would be nice if we won this competition; I will keep the moment of happiness and pride in my heart at all times. No matter where I am, I will remember that I had been in this great experience.

      I participated in the cyberfair because we were picked in the drawing lots in the class. At the first day, the teacher divided all the work and found a topic and team name for us. My classmate and I were assigned to look for information about all Taiwan’s professional and amateur surfers. I was in charge of the professional surfers, and I happen to know one, NiuZhen-Lin (Bei-Bei), because of my sister. After that, the teacher asked every one of us to design a surfboard. I think it was easier than the school exams; even though we keep saying that it is difficult, we finished the task anyway.
      I was thrilled when we finally get to go to the beach and actually try surfing. I was the first one to go into the water and try out the longboard. I have to say, it is almost impossible to stand up so quickly like the surfers we see on television. I fell down right at the point when I felt like I was able to stand on my feet. However, I kept trying; every failure is a step to success-that is the greatest lesson I had from my participation in cyberfair.

      I really think that the competition is interesting after all these days of traveling and visiting people. The surfers and people in Donghe are all friendly and vigorous.
I recall when the teacher first divided the work for us at cyberfair. He told us the topic of this event and taught us how to get started.       I thought it would be difficult in the first place, but it was actually not too hard if you listen to the teacher’s instructions. Later on, when the background information is organized, the teacher asked us to draw and design surfboards. We need to think about the reason behind our designs. Also, the teacher took us to Taitung University and showed us how an anime is made. We made our own anime there, too. During the making of anime, we encountered many difficulties; but under the teacher’s help, we successfully made our own surfing anime. Although it was not perfect, it was the creation of our great efforts. I think drawing pictures was even more difficult than taking tests at school; even the information searching was like an exam. How interesting!
      I really learned a lot from this activity. We now know that Donghe has a lot more place to visit besides the famous steamed stuffed bun restaurants. Moreover, after interviewing with these surfers, I am also attracted by this sport. I wish I could learn how to surf when I’m older, and attend competitions in foreign countries, like these surfers do.

      It was the first semester of our sixth grade when we started participating in cyberfair. We had experienced surfing, tried to interview people in Donghe village, and also a lot of other fun stuff.
      We use our lunch breaks to find and organize all the information we need. We came to work every day, until the winter vacation. In the winter vacation, we were even busier. The day right after the last day of the academic term, the teacher took us surfing. Afterwards, we came to school almost every day to organize the material and information, or to write feedback. A few days ago, we went to Dongehe Village to interview a surfer called BeiBei. We also visited the scenic spots in Donghe such as DongeheOld Bridge, Donghe Tribe House and tried the well-known Donghe steamed stuffed buns, etc. In cyberfair, we also had a lot of fun. The teacher taught us how to design a surfboard. We were asked to draw whatever pictures we like on the surfboards. The teacher also told us to draw maps; our design was that we draw the routes on the surfboard and label the scenic spots. We also had photography lessons. We learned some shooting techniques to improve our scenic photos. The teacher taught us about the Rule of Thirds, and let us practice outside the classroom.
      What impressed me the most was the time when we went to surf. I was excited about going into the water, but I had to stay on the shore where the water is shallow because there were no wetsuits of my size. They had so much fun in the water. It is a pity that I couldn’t try surfing myself; if there are other opportunities in the future, I will make sure that I grab it.
      We also spent some great times in cyberfair. Sometimes we just couldn’t stop giggling. Our website is almost done; my only wish is that this website we build can win a good grade.

       We giggle in the class because we had so much fun in cyberfair. We experience a lot of things, going to surfing, visiting Donghe scenic spots, and tasting delicious food in Donghe. We searched for information about surfing designing surfboard and drawing map.I want to surf again if I can. Although it took lots of time to draw map, we also had fun as drawing. And searching for information on the internet is fun because it makes my typing faster.I love Donghe streamed stuffed buns, I will ask my parents to buy some next time. There is a wheel-looking stone at Donghe Old Bridge, I think it’s cool. A coconut fell just next to my feet and I put it away from the road to prevent someone stepping on it. There are three streamed stuffed bun restaurants in Donghe, and I like the one more in Donghe Old Street. Let me recommend you a coutes, you can go through the Siao-Ma Tunnel to see monkeys in Dengsian resting park, the tunnel was builded at the age of my gradparents. I hope I can visit to Dulik next time, and so do surfing and delicious foods, and I want to see monkeys playing, screaming, and grapping food from people. The best wishing is to chat, play ball, participate activity, and surfing with my happy friends.

       I didn’t have confidence to do anything right at the beginning;however, I tried listening carefully what teachers taught to us and made me be much confident.I feel glad since we took photos with teachers and friends, and teacher Su taught us the Rule of Third and Rule of Cross. And we did a rehearsal before we go to interview someone. Our teachers took us to Donghe for visiting Bei-Bei and Japanese surfer, it was so nervous but also excited. It was much difficult to wearing wet suit to surf when we were in Dulik beach. We went to learn how to make anime in Taitung University, we made questionnaire, and going over those things I feel interested even accounted difficulties.
      

       Teacher hired a coach to teach us how to surf, there are ten tips to prevent drowning. We played some board just like skateboard, and the coach told us to keep balance low to avoid felling badly.
      We practiced the pose on the surfboard on the beach, it is fun! And the coach said the material of this surfboard is good, you would be painful if it hit on you. And the prize of this surfboard is unbelievably high, those two surfboard which brought by coach cost 50,000 per one, total cost 100,000. We cannot afford it if we damage them. And there are some interesting and cute figures on the surfboard.

Teacher feedback:

       It is glad to join the cyberfair competition together, we felt excited and expected it when we know the topic is surfing for this game. Because we are around the fantastic landscape of east coast, it is great and meaningful to let children understand the beauty here and be willing to keep the culture forever with course about sea and surfing class.
       During preparation of the competition, we planned many courses related to surfing, for example, surfing experience, sea education, visiting tribes, making anime, drawing, design, and photography, etc. We planned the direction and focus in classroom, and bringing the knowledge we learn in classroom to outside. Children and we learned together in order to complete the website, and the most important thing for us is to cherish, utilize and protect the ocean. It would be a beautiful memory for all of us.
