Surfing Etiquette
Ocean is a public space. The ocean may be loads of surfers while you catching your wave. However, each wave is only available for one surfer. Therefore, a common surfing consensus is met by the surfers, in order to maintain the safety and to build up an order while surfing. So, for a purpose to be a good surfer, these surfing rules and etiquettes are obligations. Otherwise any accident could result in a bad surfing experience or further casualties.

One wave, One surfer:

A wave is only capable of one surfer, for avoiding accidents caused by dropping in.

The surfer nearest to the curl has the priority for the wave:

The curl referred to the breaking point of the wave, where the closest surfer has the right of the position to catch this wave. If one is not first concerned to this wave, it would be better not to drop in.

Avoid getting into the path:

No matter you are paddling out or waiting for the wave, be aware not to disturb the route of the upcoming surfer. Make a detour while paddling out for leaving the wave rider, and always keep a safe distance.

Respect other surfers:

On the ocean, everyone has the same equality. Do respect each surfer. The rules and the etiquette of surfing matter more than the skill.
