Hiking in the mountains is probably the most healthy craze, but it presents a huge challenge in preserving the mountain environments. Why? That is because some people have a habit throwing their trash anywhere they like, especially in the mountains where they can hardly find a trash can. In fact, this bad habit has a severe impact on our environment—It not only makes the environment dirty and messy but also causes damages to the earth.

Fortunately, the awareness of environmental protection and making remedial measures arises in the recent years, so a growing numbers of volunteers or organizations start doing mountain cleaning, and so does our school, Shilin High School of Commerce. Hiking and cleaning up the mountains at the same time truly can build up our body and also allow us make a small effort for the earth. This is killing two birds with one stone. As students, we not only want to participate in mountain cleaning but also develop good habits and follow the practices when we enjoy the nature: “never let the trash fall on the ground and to put each kind of trash on its correct bin.” We believe that with a small action of yours and mine, it must make the earth full of life. Let’s take our social responsibility and treasure every land on the earth of ours!
