Recently, a lot of local governments have given away some free regenerated soil, and where does the soil come from? Read the following information and you can get the answer.

    1.Household Biodegradable Kitchen Waste  

Taipei City has divided kitchen waste to two types, namely compostable kitchen waste and kitchen waste for feeding pigs. Kitchen waste for feeding pigs is sold by calling for tenders with qualified pig farms that the agricultural unit checks and approves of, while compostable kitchen waste will be recycled and sent to the 3 incinerators, temporarily stored in district of the kitchen waste. When the compostable kitchen waste is strained from the water, turned over, and set aside until it ferments, it becomes compost semi-manufactured goods.

  

  2.Incinerator Bottom Ash Reuse  

In December, 2003, the government in Taipei began to run as an experiment on the treatment of incinerator bottom ash reuse and increased utilizing the amount year by year. By the year of September, 2005, the government entirely proceeded, in accordance with the Executive Yuan's Environmental Protection Department Announcement of the “general waste disposal— Incinerator Bottom Ash Reuse Management.” According to the rule, the government commissioned qualified recycling plants to reuse it to reach the recycling goal, that is, no incinerator bottom ash.

 

After the incinerator bottom ash is processed in different ways, including selected by the magnet or handmade, filtered, and broken, it becomes material. The material is treated such as slaking or water washing, steadying, etc. in terms of the functions of the product-type. After that, the proceeded material can be added to concrete, bituminous concrete material, terracotta tile material, different levels of granular material base, base and filling up embankment, and so on. On the other hand, the iron metal and non-ferrous metal are also recycled and reused. Every month, the bureau employees will go to the recycling plants and certain locations to check, whose purpose is to make sure the safety of the recycling of incinerator bottom ash and also continues the incinerator bottom ash reuse.

  3.The Reuse of Dirt/Culvert Sludge  

The government in Taipei started promoting the reuse of dirt/culvert sludge. The dirt/culvert sludge is dried and processed and becomes resources of soil stones that can be used by the manufacturers in Taiwan. The dirt/culvert sludge is first put in the special area in Sangjuku Landfill Site. The temporary storage of the dirt/culvert sludge in this area can help reduce the organic content and peculiar smell. In addition, the sludge will be dehydrated by using gravity and finally be utilized.
