Taiwan, surrounded by sea, has often been attacked by typhoons, so the havoc that typhoons bring has already become Taiwanese residents’ nightmare in summer. And after the typhoon, most of the fallen tresses, driftwoods, discarded garbage will be transported and buried in Sangjuku Landfill, Chiuchuang Village. The park officials will manage and deal with the waste. Under the change in recent years, the method to handle the waste differs widely. It can be divided into two kinds in general.

    Landfill Method

When the waste is set to the Sangjuku Landfill, then the environmental bureau members will check it and classify it to two sorts: one is recoverable and the other, non-recoverable. The large furniture will be compressed to the one as small as possible. Therefore, the burial ground will have more space to use. The environmental bureau members will take out the spring in spring beds, and sold this metal and recoverable furniture in public for use. However, the prices of the metal and recoverable furniture are unstable and the second method hence has been derived.

    Incineration

There are of 26 incinerators in total in Taiwan, but 2 of them are not operating because the amount of the waste is not enough. At present, the large furniture in Sangjuku Landfill is basically set out to the incinerators in Neihu and in Muzha separately. Although most of the waste is ignited in incinerators, it initiates too many shortcomings such as air pollution and the polluted smell, as well as the high fee of repairing incinerators. For that reason, the environmental protection bureau starts thinking about the how to more effectively change junk to gold, and finally they generate the idea of soil regeneration, the reformation of degraded soil through biological, chemical, and physical processes. It is being processed in Shanshuilu Eco-Park.
