We practically interviewed the residents who were living in the Shanshuilu Eco-Park. The following are our interview questions.

    Question 1:

From the former Sangjuku Landfill to Shanshuilu Eco-Park, what’s your thought about the transformation?

Answer:

We are not only pleased but also touched on seeing what passing through the households are no longer the incoming garbage trucks. Instead, it is the cars that carry visitors who come to have an outing here. In addition, our homeland will not be interfered by the garbage’s odor anymore. We are really happy about the transformation. We believe people can learn a lot about environmental protection and will pay more attention to it if there are any similar cases like Shanshuilu in the future.

Question 2:

Do you think there will be any changes about the future of Shanshuilu Eco-Park?

Answer:

Although the current condition is just fine, we still hope it can be better. We just don’t want this land to be damaged by any sabotage again. We don’t want to ruin this painstaking care because of an arbitrary policy. To be honest, it really took tons of effort to remediate the park and make it become such an incredible place.

Question 3:

Do you have any suggestion to the government, the officials or any related people about Shanshuilu Eco-Park?

Answer:

We hope there will be more activities being held in the park. Some options such as concerts, family-friendly activities or various conferences are ideal although the officials in our park currently cooperated with the local agriculture council, holding some activities such as fairs on weekends and DIY experience production, we still hope there will be other kinds of activities being held to introduce this place to more people.

Question 4:

What was the effect on the neighborhood when it became a landfill in the past?

Answer:

Feeling helpless then, no one would wish there’s a landfill beside his or her house. What we smelled and saw everyday was the odor of waste and stacks of garbage instead of beautiful scenery. For that matter, many of the residents who lived here decided to move out. The residents became fewer and fewer at that time although the government built a swimming pool in Sangjuku Landfill to countervail the residents.
