  Annual Rainfall

Chiuchuang Village is located in a subtropical monsoon area, so the weather is more significant different from May to September. Occasionally, the southeast monsoon coming from the Pacific Ocean has been blown through this area in summer, so it brings the abundant rain and causes tropical thunder showers. The average monthly rainfall is up to 300 millimeters. In winter, the northeastern monsoon blows, and again the hillock topography influences the wind, so there is more rainfall. The rainfall can reach more than 100 millimeters on average monthly. There is more orographic rainfall which is produced from the lifting of moist air over a mountain. For that reason, the village has rain more often, compared with Taipei City. Its annual rainfall is up to 2,251 millimeters.

    Temperature

Chiuchuang Village lies in the climatic zone of monsoon, so the village is influenced greater by the monsoon than by the trade wind. The summer is mainly from May to September; the average monthly temperature is 27.9 degrees. Although this village is in the basin area, the weather is not as hot as that in Taipei in summer, which the monthly average temperature is beyond 29 degrees. The highest temperature in summer is in July, around 29.1 degrees. is The reason is because Chiuchuang Village is located in the middle of the mountain area. On the other hand, in winter, from October to February, a continental cold air mass is coming down from the north, so the cold wave makes the temperature drop in general. Again, because of the mountainous area, the temperature here is colder than any other place in Taipei, and its temperature can reach to 15.1 degrees in January. To sum up, compared with the weather in Taipei, Chiuchuang Village is cooler in summer, but colder in winter.
