The Cyclers

sunnyknightIn a quiet morning, birds sing, wind blow, and the sunshine falls on the grand flower ocean. People say that Hualien is a place with beautiful sceneries and delightful landscape. Here, many cycle lanes are built. Each cycle lane connects to the unique local scenery. It gives the feeling of holding the nature and it suitable for family and friends get together cycling to enjoy the sceneries along the journey. It strengthens the relationship with each other, benefit good health, increase knowledge, and get close to the nature. It is always worth to discover on a cycling trip.

Mr. Zhang Yao

Yao ZhangCycling in Hualien is enjoyable. You're companied by the green mountain, blue sky, clear water, and fresh air, cycling with the sweat of the sun. The comfort can be only experienced once you get here. Before this project, I had cycled in Hualien for a few times. And this time I cycled through the fields in Hualien with my students. The beauty of Hualien could be seen on their content smiles. I hope when you come to Hualien, don't restraint yourself in the metal boxes (cars) like being caged. You need to enjoy the breeze and view with the speed of 15km/hr so you won't miss this marvelous gift from the nature.

Ms. Yi-Ying Li

yi yingStanding incoincidentally in front of a waving tree brings poetic affection into each individual's pulsation. The Pacific Ocean in daylight is caressed gently by the sunlight sprinkled from the clouds and pushed by the winds. The reflection of the waves is shining like a largehead hairtail jumping in the water. At the Carp Lake I encountered some cute foreigners wearing afro black wigs with cute smiles on their faces. Perhaps that is the radiant of youth. The endless uphills at Fanshu Village, unexpected scorching sun, and complaining stomachs altogether evaporate our strength to cycle. Our brains started to run out of oxygen like travelers looking for magic lamps in the desert. Finally, the supplies arrived. After gorging the fruits, biscuits, and water, we were full of energy to continue our journey. It is a blessing to be able to cycle in Hualien for a day. I believe these children who participate in this project have earned great rewards and memories from all the visits and experiences. Moreover, I deeply present my respect to Mr. Yao and Mr. Liu for their proficiency and contribution in this project. They have truly touched my heart.

Zen-Ting Chen

zen tingThis is my first time to participate in the project of Cyberfair. At first I thought it was easy to collect information and then type it up on the webpage. However, the reality was entirely different to what I expected. We had to be extremely careful when we research and collect new information because a lot of information we see on the internet is not as accurate as we thought. In order to allow others to understand what we present, we went on field trips to interview some professionals and experienced cyclists to verify our thoughts. I have learned a lot of knowledge outside of the books and precious experiences from this competition. I have seen myself and my schoolmates working hard to complete this website, which can present the Hualien cycle lanes that we designed. The sense of achievement in our hearts is indescribable. I also want to thank our teachers and schoolmates to allow me to complete this project. Without their help, I would still be stranger to the internet.

Hao-Xiang Chan

hao xiangDuring the process of this project, I have learned a lot that I didn't know although it's very tiring. For example: I have learned how to connect all the spots together and plan the journey. I thought participating in the Cyberfair would be easy and I'd have a lot of free time to use the internet. However, it was not what I expected and we always in a hurry to complete our tasks. But, when we finished, the sense of achievement in my heart was the strongest in my life.

Ya-Zhu Chang

ya zhuThis is my first time to participate in the Cyberfair. At first I joined because I thought it'd be fun. At the beginning, we had to collect information every week and then discussed. We also needed to discuss what we had to accomplish in the following week. Gradually we had the blueprint of the project and revise it continuously. The next was to visit these places and professionals in person. Cycling to places far away was hard, but we also learned a lot of things we didn't know in our journey. We also saw a lot of beautiful sceneries and delicious food in Hualien. When I first joined, I couldn't do much so I just followed others. Under the guidance of our teachers, I have learned a lot of knowledge and software. In this project, the main thing I have learned is never to give up and endure to the end. Teachers told us that participating in this competition is like having a job, you can't quit before you accomplish it. I want to thank my class teacher and Mr. Yao to lead us to accomplish this competition.

Mr. Jia-Lin Liu

jia LinThis is my first time to lead students to participate in a national competition. Under the guidance of Mr. Yao, my six students and I have learned and grown together. We live in the most beautiful city/county in this country. We have the best views in the world and the most comfortable cycle lanes in Taiwan. There are not many traffic lights along the cycle lanes in Hualien. It is suitable for arranging family trips to these cycle lanes in the country side, on the beach, and along the rivers, also some highways to satisfy those who love challenges of hiking and height. During the preparation, my students and I visited and studied the sceneries in Hualien. Then we realized some problems of the designed journey, we corrected and redesigned, it was a hard work. Besides, I had no experience of leading students in any competition before, so quite often to encounter some difficulties. Luckily I got a lot of support and help from others so those difficulties were all overcome. The most impressed was to see how much my students have gained from this project. This website is the result of our hard works. I am very happy that we did it! Finally I want to say that, the difficulties and achievement of this participation can only understood deeply by those who truly have put efforts in.

Xun Zhang

zhang xunDuring these months of participating in the Cyberfair, I have learned a lot of extra knowledge that my teachers taught us. It was tiring and hard, I often thought of giving up, but fortunately with my teachers' support and schoolmates' company, we worked together and stood till the last minute. During the participation, I realized that the scenery in Hualien is the number one in Taiwan. I hope to make more people know about the beautiful sceneries in Hualien through our product so they can come to travel in Hualien.

Si-Hua Chen

si huaMy love and enthusiasm on computer was the motivation for me to join this competition. I thought I just needed to collect information, but didn't know that it was such a hard task. We sacrificed many holidays and our winter break in order to collect information, interview, and organize information. We worked day and night at Cyberfair. I have learned that no pain, no gain. I also have learned a lot of new knowledge and skills about computer. I also understood more about the cycle lanes in Hualien, discovered many new scenic spots that I didn't know in Hualien, and experienced them myself. I really have gained a lot unexpectedly. Although the participating in the competition was a hard work, everything was rewarded. I want to thank my teachers for their support and encouragement.

Min-Zen Sung

min zenDuring the time we participated, we collected a lot of information from the internet and visited many places. It was hard working, but I am grateful for Mr. Yao and my class teacher Hsiao-Guang's teaching and support so I could finish this project of cycle lane in Hualien.

Zou-Wen Chen

zou wenI am the only 7th grader in this team. It was a big challenge to me to work with other 8th graders. When I first joined, I only know how to use internet and do some simple Word processing. After my teachers' patient teaching, I learned the skills of group discussion and the spirit of carrying through persistently. It was difficult to participate in this competition, but I was very happy. I want to thank my teachers who are attentive and my schoolmates that helped me to grow.
