| The above pictures show the resource of Confucius' last name. Chinese had their last names five thousand years ago. It was a matriarchate society at that time. The people only knew about their mothers more than fathers. During the Shia, Shang, and Chou Dynasty, the people had not only last names buy also nicknames. "Last names" were from the names of the villages they lived or the tribes they belonged to. "Nicknames" were from the names of the fief, the dukes, and the government officers given by the emperors.
