In 1723, Changhua County was established by the Ching Government.In 1726, the current Changhua County Magistrate, Chang Hao, hired the architects from Chang State, Quen State, and Chao State in the Mainland China to transport uncountable granite to Taiwan. They applied the architectural materials to build Changhua Confucius Temple. The center of it is Dacheng Hall, the Eastern and the Western Wings.The front contains Justice Way, Rites Way, Ling Shing Gate, and Chong Sheng Temple.The left side is Ming Lun Hall, an elegant but majestical building. Its paintings and sculptures are amazing classical. The art of this building combined Confuciusˇ¦ doctrines and thoughts, so it was highly praised in the historical books.And then, the people continued building Half-moon Pool in front of Ling Shing Gate, building Deng-ying Bridge, Shining Wall, Bai-sha Academy, Instructions Department, and Discipline Department.However, the above buildings were all destroyed by the Japanese. Todayˇ¦s Changhua Confucius Temple was only preserved about 75 % of original shapes. In 1978, the R.O.C.
Government rebuilt the Temple according the original shapes and announced Changhua Confucius Temple became the first grade of the national historical landmarks. In the ancient time, the Temple was open if the emperors visited the Temple or the Number One Scholars worshipped Confucius.Today, Changhua Confucius Temple is only open on Confuciusˇ¦ Birthday, also Teacherˇ¦s Day, September twenty-eighth every year.
