The two sides of the Dacheng Hall are Eastern Wing and Western Wing.They both have five rooms in width, adopting Fukien style roofs and being decorated plainly.In particular, because the Changhua Confucius Temple was the Changhua County School in the Ching Dynasty, it couldn¡¦t imitate the national school to set up a four-wings house.As a result, the Eastern Wing, Western Wing, and the Jii Gate didn¡¦t connect to the Dacheng Gate and Chong Sheng Temple, and all became independent buildings.The Eastern Wing and the Western Wing are symmetrical, and the decorations of their roofs and the sculptures of the indoor beams are quite simply and plainly. ¡C |

The two walls of the Wings were named ¡§Mountain Walls¡¨ architecturally.There are some £v-shaped bricks inlayed in the walls which were named ¡§Birds Steps¡¨ by people.The main functions of the ¡§Birds Steps¡¨ are collecting rain in the rainy day and beautifying the whole walls.Finally, some people saw many birds jumping and playing on the £v-shaped bricks, so the name ¡§Birds Steps¡¨ was adopted until now. |
