According to the historical records, the King of Lu changed Confuciusˇ¦ three houses into three temples after Confuciusˇ¦ death, and ordered people to worship Confucius every year. Later, the Emperor Tong Tai-zong ordered that each city and county have to establish a Confucius Temple.
In 1723, the Ching Government set up Changhua County Government. In 1726, Changhua County Magistrate Chang Hao established the Changhua Organization of Education, which located todayˇ¦s Changhua Confucius Temple. Changhua Confucius Temple was an important institution of education and culture in Central Taiwan then. It was built according to the traditional and historical Confucius Temple architecture, and its scope is just smaller than Tainan Confucius Temple in Taiwan.However, the skills of architecture of Changhua Confucius Temple are superior to those of Tainan Confucius Temple.Now, Changhua Confucius Temple becomes an important historical landmark in Taiwan. |
