In February 1968, the R.O.C. Government tried to improve the clothing for the Ceremony of Sacrifice for Confucius.The Government engaged many experts and scholars as the members of ¡§the Committee of the Ceremony and the Music about Sacrifice for Confucius¡¨.It was divided into four groups, ¡§Ceremony¡¨, ¡§Clothing¡¨, ¡§Sacrificial Utensils¡¨, and ¡§Music and Dances¡¨.The members looked up the ancient documents, and made some improving plans according to the present fashion.Until September 1970, the Committee finally set up the regulations of the Ceremony.The music is based on ¡§Ann Her¡¨, ¡§Ning Her¡¨, and ¡§Shien Her¡¨ three music scores according to the Ming Dynasty regulations.The dances also followed the Ming rules.The clothing was new-made by the ancient regulations.The Executants wear the ancient style clothes, but the Sacrifice Officers wear the Chinese-style unlined garment.That is because the Sacrifice Officers are all the Government Officers, and the ancient style would not suitable to them.That was decided by the Committee then.Now, ¡§the Committee of the Ceremony and the Music about Sacrifice for Confucius¡¨ is in charge of the Ceremony every year.To perform the better Ceremony than before, the Committee always tries their best to improve the details.The Committee indeed makes a huge contribution to the Chinese culture reviving.
