I had studied here for three years and already graduated. Why I studied at night school was because I wanted to learn Chinese. What impressed me most was I have learned Chinese and won the Mayor Prize when I graduated. I liked music class too. I had fun singing. Since I came from Indonesia, I had some communication difficulty before. However, after I attended night school, I speak and read Chinese better.
Compared to simplified Chinese, I like traditional Chinese more because there are phonetic symbols which help us to pronounce better. Nevertheless, I think it’s not enough to learn Chinese at school only. Sometime I used the subtitles on TV to learn Chinese.
I had a hard time in music class as well because I didn’t speak Taiwanese at all. My husband’s original family speaks Hakka. Fortunately, there are two TV sets at my home so we can watch TV separately.
I’m satisfied with the night school curriculum. First of all, I could learn a lot of things. Second, I could make many friends. If I have any suggestion, I would like to have computer science class for the curriculum.
If I had enough time, I would go to advanced night school. But too bad, I need to work. I know I can learn English at advanced night school. Some of my friends who are at advanced night school now told me that they’ve learned many things from the program although the school time is longer.
If I have any chance, I will encourage my friends and relatives who are in Taiwan to go to night school. If they don’t got to night school, they can’t learn so well.
