Teaching Experience in Night School: seven Years

Current title: Grade 2 Class A homeroom teacher

I taught social study at the beginning, but now I am teaching Mandarin. There are all female students except one male student in my class. They are all around 50~60 years old.

My teaching in night school is almost the same with teaching in the elementary school. I use projector and E-book to present the teaching material. The students find it very interesting and useful. Because most of the students suffer from bad eye sight, they benefit from the advantage of the projection that allows the teacher to adjust the size of the picture and words.

However, there are also something different from teaching in the elementary school. For example, you can ask elementary school students to look into the dictionary but it is difficult to ask the students in the night school to do the same thing. The reason is the words in the dictionary are all too tiny for them.

Students in the night school come to school voluntarily, so they cherish every chance to learn. Even though they are only asked to copy each word twice, they would do double or triple instead. Students in the elementary will be happy with no homework while students in the night school like to practice more if they can. They also very focus on the detail of each word, and write every word with effort and heart.

I will suggest to buy more equipment, such as the projectors in the future. In addition, Mandarin lesson maybe useful for the elder, but it is not enough for the young foreign brides. Therefore we can think of planning other lessons like English, computer class and etc.
