Teaching Experience in Night School: three Years

Current title: Grade 1 Class B homeroom teacher

There are about 20~30 students in a class in night school. Students are usually the elder who lost the chance to receive education when they were young and the foreign brides coming from Indonesia, Vietnam and Philippines. They are here to learn Chinese.

For the elder who used to speak Taiwanese for their whole life, it is not easy for them to learn Chinese, especially the tone and some specific sounds. However they still try their best to learn. Some of them even feel stressed. Therefore, I do not force them hard, and try to use more pictures to help them instead. Although they are positive toward learning, they learn things slow because their age. So they need a lot of review in class.

In my opinion, the students in night school should be divided by their background and their learning purposes. There can one class for those elder students who they love to learn Chinese characters but they learn slowly. And the other class for those young foreign brides who they learn fast, and they are here for learning language usage.
