Teaching Experience in Night School: two Years
Current title: Grade 2 Class B homeroom teacher
I used to teach social study, but now I am teaching Chinese in night school. There are about 15 students in my class. They are all above 50 years old. Because of their age, I would need to use some old movie while teaching. And Taiwanese is also needed when explaining.
The strength of the night school students is having a lot of life experience and background knowledge. So I put more emphasis on teaching method and structure of the Chinese characters.
For those slow learners, they need to be encouraged more to gain confidence. You can see their improvement after one month. Most of students in night school are active and positive. They come here because they want to learn. So there is no need to force them.
I feel quiet easy to get along with them. My students in my homeroom class would help each other. But there are also students find it difficult to work with others.
The ability of students in night school is very different. Some students can do the workbook and do writing by themselves, while some can’t even copy the sentence on the blackboard.
