Prospection

Taiwan is an aging population society; however, the number of immigrants to Taiwan is increasing. The need of life-time learning will be rising in the near future. Therefore, the requirement for night schools, either in quantity or in quality, will be growing as well.

Accompanied with the implementation of mandatory education for school-age children in Taiwan, illiterates and drop-outs are decreasing with ages. Night school program is no long serving for illiterate elders to learn Chinese characters only, but also for retired educated seniors to learn more. For the new immigrants, though Chinese language, including phonetic notations, is still their study focus, nevertheless, computer skill is taking an important part among night school curriculums.

To conclude, Xisong Night School will develop simultaneously towards two dimensions, which are the life-time learning for seniors and the adaptation for new immigrants. It expects itself to create a more diverse learning environment.
