There are the last five generations before Confucius and the fathers of the former educators were worshipped.In the two sides of Chong Sheng Temple, there are Hometown Virtuous Persons Temple, Ceremony Implements Warehouse, Famous Officials Temple, and Instruments Warehouse.The original name of ˇ§Chong Sheng Templeˇ¨ is ˇ§Chi Sheng Templeˇ¨.ˇ§Chi Shengˇ¨ is the official name of Confuciusˇ¦ uncle, Duke Liang He.In the tradition of Chinese temples architecture, people usually worshipped the main worshipperˇ¦s father behind the hall.As a result, the Tainan City Confucius Temple should set up this kind of temple in the beginning, and named the temple, ˇ§Chi Shengˇ¨, the official name of Confuciusˇ¦ father.In 1723, the Emperor of Ching Dynasty trace to give the official names to the last five generations before Confucius: ˇ§King Zhao Shengˇ¨, ˇ§King Yu Shengˇ¨, ˇ§King Yi Shengˇ¨, ˇ§King Chung Shengˇ¨, and ˇ§King Chi Shengˇ¨.Finally, the emperor also changed the name ˇ§Chi Sheng Templeˇ¨ into ˇ§Chong Sheng Templeˇ¨. |
