Origin
The Wild Bird Society of Taipei is an organization
that cares about the natural environment and the conservation of birds.
It has contributed a lot to environmental education for bird records
and bird watching activities.
Interview 1.Would you like to introduce why you joined the Wild Bird Society of Taipei? What is your main job?
My first job is to work at the Guandu Nature Park
Management Office of the Wild Bird Society of Taipei. The Secretary
General of the Wild Bird Society of Taipei is the full-time executive
director of the Wild Bird Society of Taipei. We have a conservation
director, an education director, and an official relation director. The
Wild Bird Society of Taipei now has 3 places to operate, one is Guandu
Nature Park, one is Zhishan Ecological Garden, another is Aogu Dongshi
Exhibition Area and Ambulance Center, etc. My main job is to ensure so
many units and organizations can work well. In addition, the Wild Bird
Society of Taipei also works on research, conservation, education
promotion, and public relations.
2.What is the reason for most of the birders started bird watching, and then joined the Wild Bird Society of Taipei?
The Wild Bird Society of Taipei has a famous saying,
"Birds’ Today, Humans’ Tomorrow". In short, this sentence is to tell
people that the predicament of bird life and environmental conditions
is the predicament that humans may face in the future. We want to guide
people to watch birds and let people view the nature in the eyes of
birds? We hope that everyone will try to protect birds because they
like birds. In the process, the birds will be taken care of, and the
environment in Taiwan will be improved. Taiwan's environment is good
for us Taiwanese.
At the beginning, when the birders saw our volunteers
looking at the telescope, they would ask: “what are you looking at?
What's so nice about sparrow?” Then they saw through the telescope and
exclaim “How can there be such beautiful birds!” The reason why birders
join the Wild Bird Society of Taipei is because they first saw their
own bird of life, which means that the bird that he first appreciated
in his life may be a kingfisher or a black-faced spoonbill, so many
birders think that watching birds is a very pleasant thing over time,
it is a great activity, and then they want to join us.
3.How does the Wild Bird Society of Taipei choose locations for these routine or station activities?
These activity routes are important bird spots in Taipei
City, including Guandu Nature Park, Zhishan, Daan Forest Park, etc.
There is a convenient transportation meeting point for people to watch
birds, so the Wild Bird Society of Taipei set a meeting point of
traffic convenience opposite Taipei Train Station 40 years ago. We
called it a routine activity. From that meeting point, we started a
guided tour and took everyone to watch these birds. In simple terms,
the place is where we can see birds most easily in that season, at that
time and at that place in Taipei City, and this place is the bird spot
we choose.
4.The Wild Bird Society of Taipei implements the concept of conservation. How do you conduct the promotion education?
We have 3 important educational venues, which are
Guandu Nature Park, Zhishan Ecological Garden and Aogu Wetland, which
can be used for outdoor teaching for children, or professional
instruction courses for teachers. We also open them to parent-child
camps. The Wild Bird Society of Taipei Guild Hall will provide
educational services to the schools, such as station commentary,
routine activities, and community universities. Every year, about
200,000 tourists visit the wild birds through the system of the Wild
Bird Society of Taipei to watch wild bird and understand nature.
Everyone can see this no matter natural related concepts are put into
the curriculum through school or the non-school education system. |
