Good days for bird watching>Wulai District

The Wild Bird Society of Taipei's routine activities are very diverse and rich in routes, and the professional guidance can let us know more about the bird's living conditions and environmental changes. We choose three routine activities of Wulai, Neikou Village, and Tianliaoyang. Let's take a look at the event history!
Wulai District
Cross the bridge in front of Wulai Station and turn left. Walking along the Tonghou Stream is the main bird-watching route. The platform near Mini Valley Villas can be used to watch stream birds, such as plumbeous water redstart, Taiwan whistling thrush, etc. This reminds us of the ninth article of the mountain brook bird in Mandarin textbooks. In the article, it described the predation patterns of the Brown dipper, kingfisher and plumbeous water redstart. We were personally on the scene to watching the predation of the three birds when we came to Wulai! However, these three brook birds are small in size and it is not easy to shoot ... We took a photo of plumbeous water redstart, but we didn't take the photo of brown dipper. It was such a pity! I saw rufous turtle dove, sandpipers and egrets all the way, and watched raptors flying along the edge of the mountain. We passed the noisy crowd along the Wulai urban area, and then we walked the trail to the mountain side. At this time, the leader stopped and said that he found maroon oriole, and quickly picked up his telescope, but only saw the red tail, and a shadowy figure flying into the bushes. Maroon oriole is a bird species we had never seen before, so it was novel to us. Unfortunately I did not see the whole picture. Under the area where maroon oriole stayed, we found Taiwan barbet were eating fruit, everyone was very excited, this is the first time to see Taiwan barbet foraging.

Along the asphalt road all the way up, we saw a lot of bird species, but this time we saw a new bird species, grey-chinned minivet, which is of different colors for female and male birds. When a male bird and a female bird appeared in front of us, we found that the male bird was bright orange red on ventral surface, waist and tail feather, while the female was bright yellow. The grey-chinned minivet’s color was gorgeous and very beautiful. It was busy only to take pictures, but we still worked hard to take beautiful pictures. A group of Pacific swallows stopped on the electrical line, I thought they were sparrows viewed on the back light at first, but after looking closely, I found that the Pacific swallow was pretty similar to the barn swallow, with a slightly smaller body. When we slowly walked back, we also found the crested serpent eagle in “idle version”. This word was funny. The guide teacher told us that it rained a few days ago, so the big crested serpent eagle stopped on a dead branch and unfolded its feathers to dry. This is the shutdown picture, which was really ridiculous!

Today, many people participated in the bird watching in Wulai, and we were not disappointed. Our target bird species such as brook birds, mountain birds, and raptors came out. We counted 35 species of birds today. The number of participants was about 70. The Wild Bird Society of Taipei event group will also register today's e-bird.
