Tianliaoyang |
Tianliaoyang is located in the Gongliao District of New
Taipei City. It is a relay station for migratory birds due to its
various geographical features. According to the bird-watching record
database e-bird platform, Tianliaoyang has recorded 260 bird species
and is the crown of important wetlands in Taiwan. (Taiwan Animal News
Network). We look forward to record and see more bird species.
We walked along the road next to the railway and watched
the beautiful stream landscape from Gongliao Station to Dehsin Temple.
Everyone overlooked the mountainside with a telescope. Some people
found tree pies and raptors in the sky. We guessed it is a black kite
from a distance. Entering the railway tunnel under the railway, we
found Formosan blue magpie gathered in groups on the electric poles
around the railway. At this time, the birders turned on their cameras
and were busy taking pictures accompanied by the black kite in the
distance. After passing the railway tunnel, we slowly walked into the
forest, there were black kite and Indian spot-billed duck appearing in
the distant streams and swamps. We slowly walking to the field path
with a wider view. There were a large group of sparrows on the electric
pole, and egrets in the fields on the other side. We compared the two
birds of Intermediate egret and Cattle egret, which were just in the
lens when viewed from the telescope. The leader said that the
difference between the two birds can be judged by the neck length. They
were really similar and may be mistaken to the same birds if not
observed carefully. What a rich bird ecological journey! |

We can also find traces of the white-rumped munia,
scaly-breasted munia, black-headed bunting, and yellow-browed bunting.
At this moment, the black kite flew through the air at very low height,
and it was clearly visible to the naked eye. On the way to the field,
we saw Taiwan barbets, warbling white-eyes staying on the green maple
tree. Everyone exclaimed for a while and forgot to take its majestic
figure. On the way, everyone focused on looking for the birds, and the
look of the taking birds pictures was really moving! At the beginning,
everyone was not interested in bird watching. After several
explanations by the teacher and the tour guide, we gradually got close
to these flying feather elves, and the happiest thing was to found the
yellow-browed bunting and black-headed bunting which was especially
rare to see. |

We enjoyed the railway lunchbox at Dehsin Temple.
Everything was delicious when one was hungry. A blue rock thrush
appeared on the side of the water tower and made everyone happy. After
dinner, the birders went to the wetland to continue the next trip. We
also took a group photo in front of Dehsin Temple. We watched many bird
species at Tianliaoyang. We watched about 61 species on that day. The
bird species watched included black kite, osprey, Taiwan barbet,
warbling white-eyes, blue rock thrush, Indian spot-billed duck, crested
serpent eagle, yellow-browed bunting, white-rumped munia,
scaly-breasted munia, grey wagtails, light-vented bulbul, intermediate
egret, cattle egret, Formosan blue magpie, grey treepie, yellow-browed
bunting, and black-headed bunting. The bird species were also recorded
on the e-bird and can be found online. |
