On-campus promotion

1.Origin

        Well before we started to research, no one had ever noticed around the neighborhood of the school, there was such an Irrigation Association. Of course, no one understood what the association was doing. After the questionnaire survey was held, we realized that a lot of the school students had no idea of the association; so we decided to conduct a report and publicity in school after the special research reports were completed. Since the research would be conducted until the winter vacation, so we decided to carry out the publicity activity at the beginning of the second semester, after we had the discussion with the teacher.

2.Briefing production

        When the new semester started, the Cyberfair team began to implement the production of the publicity briefing; fortunately we had a mind map solution, so we quickly drafted the key points of several reports. In addition to the understanding of the history of Chi-Sing Irrigation Association, irrigation areas, and the foundations, we also introduced the irrigation facilities, and incorporated the situation about the happening and influence of the hot spring area at Xingyi Road, Taipei; and we borrowed the water quality detector to test the water quality for our students to understand the situation. After the assignments of our tasks, we began to produce the briefing.

3.Briefing practice

        As soon as we finished the briefing, the teacher asked us to present our reports directly on stage; at the very beginning we had a difficult time to start, we even stuttered, we could only kept looking at the briefing, and were afraid of looking down at the audience. We then practiced over and over again after our teacher instructed us repeatedly; finally we could come up with better reporting.

4. Project research on-campus promotion and report

        Before the gathering of the students early in the morning, a rehearsal was held for practice. When the chime of class bell rang, the 4th to 6th grade students came in one after the other, then director Lee started an opening for us, then a series of school reports followed. From the playing of the aerial video to the presentation of the research reports, the activity was completed very successfully; even the mirror function on iPad was very fluent. At the prize-winning quiz time, although there was a much difficult quiz to answer, with the host's intentional hint, a student answered the question correctly so we were all deeply relieved.

5. Suggestions and feedback

        There were second-time veterans in our team, but most of us were newbie, so we had many little problems during the whole session of the activity; but the director still recognized our hard work, and wished us to apply the experience of this research to the learning in the future, and solve any kind of problem with the spirit of doing a research.

6. Promotion and report review

        To concentrate a lot of information into a 15-minute report isn't easy for us, but under the step-by-step instruction of our teacher, from developing themes, searching for information, simplifying data, making and modifying briefing, practicing on stage, and completing the report, we finally made it and felt that producing a research report is really not easy! Unfortunately, a team member got sick suddenly, we had to ask other team member to follow the report in place of her; since she was a team, so we worked out her part too. The president and director of our school highly acknowledged our report this time; but there was still room for improvement and we have heard and understood from their opinions. We surely will improve and make progress at our work if there is such an opportunity to do next time.
