Longshan Temple is a third-grade municipal monument. It is also called Taipei Longshan Temple and Wanhua Longshan Temple. Mengjia Longshan Temple, Qingshui Temple and Dalongdong Baoan Temple are the three main temples in Taipei.

Longshan Temple worships important deities from three religions including Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism. The temple consists of three halls: the fore hall, the main hall and the rear hall, and each hall is divided into several parts. There are more than a hundred deities and seven incense burners.

Facing the north side, the design of Longshan Temple is based on a traditional Chinese palace, consisting of the fore hall, the main hall, the rear hall and the guarding dragons on both the left and right side. The fore hall is divided into 11 bays and three halls of “Sanchuan (three rivers) Hall,” “Longmen (dragon gate) Hall” and “Humen (tiger gate) Hall.” In front of Sanchuan Hall stands a pair of dragon columns cast with bronze, which are the only bronze columns in Taiwan. The front wall is composed of beige and dark green granites. Stories on the wall mostly come from “Romance of the Three Kingdoms” and “Investiture of the Gods,” and are of great educational significance.

The main hall has a gable and hip roof with multiple eaves and the gallery surrounding it is composed of 42 pillars. The front wall is covered with stone carvings by famous calligraphers. The spiral caisson inside the main hall does not include any nails or steel, but is built entirely with Dougong (interlocked wooden brackets). The rear hall, where most Confucian and Taoist deities are worshiped, also has a gable and hip roof with multiple eaves. Two towers respectively for bell and drum are on the east and the west sides of the courtyard between the fore hall and the main hall. They are two-storied buildings with a conic roof in hexagonal shape like a helmet, very unique. Roofs and eaves of the entire temple are all decorated with dragons, phoenixes, and kylins, together with Chien-nien (cutting and pasting ceramic parts) and Koji pottery. With the bright and beautiful colors, Longshan Temple presents the essences of Chien-nien craft in Taiwan.
