During our field trip, we were very lucky to come across to the exhibition of “The Floral and the Ink World.” Taking place at room 13/15 at No.173, Kangding Road, it is a cross-disciplinary art exhibition co-organized by floral artist Irene Hsu and ink wash painter Iju Wang, which presents the combined beauty of both Chinese and Western artwork in the nostalgic atmosphere of a historic building in Bo-Pi Liao. Before I stepped into the exhibition hall, I was already drawn by the paintings inside. Different from the classic artwork, these paintings have an ordinary beauty. They make viewers very comfortable, while having their own features and imaginations. And none of the feelings could be copied; every piece of work could present the most beautiful status. Without excessive decorations and fancy colors, they offer a simple beauty of an ordinary life. I’d never been to an art exhibition before, it was a fruitful experience coming across this exhibition inside Bo-Pi Liao historic district. The atmosphere inside the exhibition hall gave me a quiet and comfortable feeling, as if the time had stopped. Such a place is rare in modern urban lives. Bo-Pi Liao is like these paintings, whose existence is ignored because being too ordinary. Bo-Pi Liao historic district should be valued by the public. We hope that the authority could further utilize the space, organizing more exhibitions and parent-child activities to attract visitors, so as to achieve the sustainable development of Bo-Pi Liao and the goal of culture education.
