The office on the 23rd floor of the spokesman
has a good view. We can see the Taipei 101. |
We were curious to touch the lucky stone. |
Q1: Could you tell us your title,
work experience and content?
A1: I have been here for 28 years. I worked many
different works. When I have first joined the Taiwan Power
Company since 1990, I was engaged in hydropower work on the
mountain of Dongshi, such as digging tunnels, covering dams,
building factories, and making roads. The landform of Taiwan
is very cliffy, so we must make full use of water resources
to build hydroelectric power plants along Daijia River
including Deji Dam, Qingshan Dam, Guguan, etc. I got my
Ph.D. when I worked at Concrete Testing and Research Center
of National Chung Hsing University. In 2009, I was
transferred to the engineering unit of the head office, and
then did many jobs. Now, I am a professional chief engineer
and a spokesman for Taipower.
Q2: How did you get into Taiwan Power Company? What
qualifications or expertise do you have?
A2: I came in Taiwan Power Company without exams in
1990. At that time, the government has special appointment
rules for masters and doctoral degrees, so they can enter
the company without passing the exam. At present, it is
necessary to pass the exam to enter Taipower. Taipower needs
people with different areas of expertise, such as those who
know how to make animation because it is an easy to
communicate with people, and some people who are good at
preservation of cultural assets. Welcome to join us.
Q3: Is there any risk around your working place? If
so, how do you reduce risks?
A3: It is more dangerous to work in a construction
field. They may encounter falling rocks and collapsing. In
the past, the roof of the engineering vehicle would have a
spring bed. When the small falling stone fell, it would
bounce off; when the big rock fell, the entire engineering
vehicle would be crushed. There is also a risk of collapsing
in tunnel construction. We will evaluate it and prevent it
carefully before get into the tunnel construction. Even if
there is an accident, the family can get a sum of money.
After all, no accident is the best.

Interviewing Mr. Hsu |
Q4: What is the challenge when
working? How do you dealt with it?
A4: Being the spokesman is the most challengeable to
do at present. For example, I have to answer any question
when someone asks me anytime anywhere. Every single word I
said brings a huge influence to the company, so I have to
face the problems and tell the truth in bureaucratic
language. Thus, my highest guiding principle is to ¡§find the
limits and do the best.¡¨ Even if there are many external
restrictions, I should find a way to deal with them.
Especially, although I am just an engineer, I still need to
face those limits like non-nuclear homes and low-carbon life
and find a good way to do them well. It is really not easy!
Q5: What is your sense of accomplishment during work?
Why?
A5: I think I am very happy every day! I have no
thought to change my work attitude. I keep my work passion
all the time and appreciate everything, so I always
encourage myself to maintain a sense of accomplishment.
