Interviewing Mr. Sun |
Asking
questions |
Q1: Could you tell us your title,
work experience and content?
A1: I am the Boiler Technician working here for about
forty-two years. My job is patrol around, keep records, and
operate machines.
Q2: How did you get into Taiwan Power Company? What
qualifications or expertise do you have?
A2: I was graduated from Tao-Yuan Agricultural &
Industrial Senior High School, and was one of the students
joining alternating plan. We got the chance to get in
because Taiwan Power Company had the vacancy of the jobs.
Q3: Is there any risk around your working place? If
so, how do you reduce risks?
A3:Working in this circumstance is very dangerous
because we have to keep from leaking or get burned when
operating the machine. Our working circumstance always
controls the heat to about 30 Celsius degree, but sometimes
it might rise to 40 to 50 Celsius degree. In order to
protect us from the danger, we have to, according to the
rule, wear the dressing, like protective boots and helmets.
Follow the order to operate the machine, so we can avoid the
risk.
Q4: What is the challenge when working? How do you
dealt with it?
A4: In some places, it is hard to work alone, so we
have to cooperate with colleagues, even we have to use some
tools to operate the machines.
Q5: What is your sense of accomplishment during work?
Why?
A5: When we face the problem, solve the problem and
make it generate again.
Q6: According to your seniority, what is the
difference after Linkou power plant changed the new units?
A6: I have been using both old and new units, and the
old one is decommissioned in 2014. The difference between
both of them is that the old one needs more people to
operate, like launch the generator, turn off the generator,
etc.; the new one is automatic, so that we can save more
resource to spend on other things. We always patrol around
and check the machine everyday if the control room finds out
some problems. There are three shifts in a day. Each shit is
eight houses. We work three days and rest two days because
power plant works every day. Most of time, we don¡¦t have to
work in the evening unless there is an urgent situation. By
the way, during this year, when changing old unit into new
one, we have spent time training.
Interview Reflection
We can turn on the light to
fill a cup of water at night because there are two thousands
electrical staffs to work for us here. Because of them, we
can use power conveniently. It is a valuable opportunity for
us to interview them at live. Mr. Sun let us know not only
about the work content in the thermal power plant, but also
about the challenge and risk during the work, and we can
learn more new knowledge of them. We really thank every
worker who work so hard for 24 hours in the power plant. If
we didn¡¦t visit, we wouldn¡¦t know how many people behind it
were working hard. Big thanks!
