Explaining hydropower

Q1: Could you tell us about the work experience and content?
A1: I used to work at an electric technology company from the worker to technician. I had been in American business company and Japanese business company. I retired from the position of the director in Dajia River Hydropower Plant, and then went to be the administrative staff in the headquarters of Taiwan Power Company. However, I am dealing with electric plant service after all.
Q2: What kind of specialty is required if people want to get in to Taiwan Power Company?
A2: I am the electrical engineer. I also do the mechanical related experience job. I consider that everyone¡¦s job is very important.
Q3: What is the challenge when working? How do you dealt with it?
A3: Professional technique is not a very difficult challenge to us. The most challenging problem is to deal with the people. For example, when we are planning the construction, there are many elements like environment, negotiation, and so on will influence the project. Everyone has his or her own opinions, but it is hard to integrate all suggestion into a perfect project. So our challenge is how to combine different advice and decrease the cost if we have to face the hard problem.
Q4: What is your sense of accomplishment during work? Why?
A4: Before I retired, I was working at the Dajia Power Plant. After the Jiji earthquake (also known as 921 earthquake), we decided to construct the plant in an environmentally friendly way, which combines technology and ecology. As a result, the Dajia River Corridor is built after the earthquake. For example, we set fish ways to make fish survive, and there are places that people can watch fish swimming. Even we get the prizes, industrial recycle and substantial development, which are from the government. For me, I think we should make a different way to change our way thinking about Taiwan¡¦s future. The development and construction must cause damage to environment, and the most important thing is that how it becomes the least damage. I believe only by this can make the tourism and creation become greater.
