Q1: Could you tell us your title,
work experience and content?
A1: I am the supervisor at the First Nuclear Power
Plant of simulation operation, and I have been working for
39 years. The training of sales, operator, and maintainer,
etc. is my responsibility. Each of the staff has to get
training and quizzes. Only they pass the exam, they can work
in the plant.
Q2: How did you get into Taiwan Power Company? What
qualifications or expertise do you have?
A2: I get this job by the special examination in 1979
and my major is Mechanical Engineering. There are now only
two ways to get into Taiwan Power Company, one is by
Administration of national examinations and Supervision of
contract examinations, the other one is by special test
which is held by company. Generally, we are public servants.
Q3: Is there any risk around your working place? If
so, how do you reduce risks?
A3: I think everyone has the same risk, but working
in a plant is safe because it is important to protect the
staff. Some places also regulate the limitation of
radiation, so we just have to take more care about it, and
it will be safe for us.
Q4: What is the challenge when working? How do you
dealt with it?
A4: Now, I have worked for almost 40 years at the
same unit. Nuclear Power supports Taiwan the steadiest and
cheapest electricity. In fact, the national protection union
takes nuclear as one of the clean energy. Nowaday, people
care about the air pollution from power plants. For Taipower
Company, it is very difficult for us to reduce the amount of
emission to the amount in 2000. For me, working at a nuclear
power plant carefully and support the stable electricity for
Taiwan is the challenge.
Q5: What is your sense of accomplishment during work?
Why?
A5: For me, my accomplishment is that I have joined
the trial run at the Nuclear Power Plant II which is the Ten
Major Construction Projects. Although it takes time to form
a broad consensus, I truly wish that the Fourth Nuclear
Power Plant can work someday.We still have to rely on the
government¡¦s decision about Taiwan¡¦s future.
