A. The Current Situation of This Area

This area is from the community, Guan-Du New Village , to Zhuwei Bridge , around 1.2 kilometers long. Since here river flows through residential district with high population density. Sewage is kept discharging into Plum Tree Creek from two sides and flows down along river. The whole river area is almost hidden in houses. Only few parts can be seen. Furthermore, additional houses are always built on both sides of river. River land is occupied which makes river becomes smaller. In addition, there are houses built by cement above the river. When typhoon comes or rains heavily, it will cause flood. Part of river flowing through MacKay Memorial Hospital is covered as a park which announces the death of river. This area is contaminated severely with stench and algal bloom looks like snivel.

B. The Current Situation of Pollution and Problems  

 At downstream area, river covered and domestic sewage cause tributary turn into contaminated. And when river is blocked, it may bring out flood.

a) Domestic sewage from community is discharged into Plum Tree Creek directly that makes severely pollution.

b) Sewage from hospitals is released into Plum Tree Creek, therefore, river is polluted.

c) The biggest tributary of Plum Tree Creek is from Xiao Baliben Brook. At the upstream of Xiao Baliben Brook, there is a large community called Feng Dan Bai Lu. Domestic sewage from community flows through high population density community and then through markets. This tributary is more polluted than Plum Tree Creek.

C. Our Solution

We suggest setting up sewage disposal system and drainage system of community sewer positively. By separating sewage from rainwater to decrease the pollution on Plum Tree Creek.
