The Qingshui highway rest area is in Qingshui, Taichung. There is a beautiful shore view, so it is a popular place with tourists. At this location, Hsin Tung Yang set environmental protection and marine life to be the theme of the highway rest area. There are nine solar panels in use as the Qingshui highway rest area’s main source of electricity. In the aquarium at the highway rest area, everyone can experience the beauty of marine life, such as the Qingshui stingray.
Another highway rest area operated by Hsin Tung Yang is the Guanxi highway rest area, which is located in Guanxi, Hsinchu. The residents here are mostly Hakka. The Hakka people plant leaf mustard after the second harvest, and they make it into pickled vegetables. You can see many pickled vegetables jugs on the streets of the town, so when the Japanese came to Taiwan, the Taiwanese pronunciation of “pickled vegetables” sounded similar to the Japanese pronunciation of “Guanxi”, so the Japanese named this place Guanxi.
Hsin Tung Yang adopts the Guanxi Hakka people’s style and uses the tong blossom to design the Guanxi highway rest area. The tong blossom decorations are as white as snow, and they make the Guanxi highway rest area more beautiful.
The Nantou highway rest area is located in Nantou City, Nantou. It is one of the most aboriginal-populated city, and it is located in the terrain of the high mountains.
The Nantou highway rest area was home to the Bunun tribe and it is located at the intersection of the plain tribe and the mountain tribe, which is referred to as the “Lamungan”. Hsin Tung Yang set up the “Aboriginal Culture Art Museum” on the second floor of the highway rest area. It exhibits the things used in daily life and artifacts, showing and sharing the culture of the Nantou aboriginal people.
Hsin Tung Yang uses the unique local culture to show the beauty of the highway rest area. It set up the solar panels and started to follow the modern world, and they make highway rest areas better and better.
