Helping Hands
While Hsin Tung Yang is in operation, they have helped many people. They have proven that they are very hospitable. The following are two stories which reflect what Hsin Tung Yang has done to help others.

1.A Reporter’s Rescue Mission
About seven or eight years ago, there was a little store of Hsin Tung Yang in Terminal One of the Taoyuan International Airport. Then, an Indian came, and he sat in front of the store day after day without saying a word. Three days later, everyone became curious because the Indian had been sitting there for days, so the clerks of the store finally tried to speak to him, “When I open the store at five in the morning, we see you sitting here. When we close the store at 11 at night, we see you sitting here, too. Which flight are you taking?” The Indian said, “Actually, I have no money to go back home. The flight I am going to take is not a direct flight. I am going to take a special flight, and I have to wait until the next connecting flight. Then, everyone asked, “Why don’t you have any money? What brought you to Taiwan?” The Indian said, “I am actually trapped in Taiwan. A person who lied to me and told me to come to Taiwan took all the money I had. The only thing I have now is my passport.” Since that day, the clerks began to give bread to the Indian, so he had something to eat. Meanwhile, the manager of Hsin Tung Yang at the airport started to think of a way to help send the Indian back to his country. Through the help of reporters and the manager of an airline, the Indian eventually got a free ticket from China Airlines and went back to his own country. Before the Indian went back to his country, he was moved to tears. Although the person who lied to him is Taiwanese, there is also a group of Taiwanese who worked hard to help send him back to his country. This showed him the hospitable culture of Taiwanese people.
2.The Indian without a Home
The second story also took place at the airport. There are many foreign workers in Taiwan. Some of them do not hold a stable job, and some of them are people who have escaped from their own country. From time to time, you could see police officers bring in a line of people who are handcuffed; these are foreign workers who have come to stay in Taiwan illegally, and they need to be sent back to their own country. The story happened in a bakery at the airport in Terminal One. There was an illegal foreign worker who wanted to go back to his own country, but he did not have the money to go back. One day, he stole a piece of bread from the store because he was hungry. When the police caught him, everybody asked him, “Why did you steal from others?” The foreign worker answered, “I want to go back to my country, but I have no money.” This situation was more complicated because it had involved an illegal stay, so Hsin Tung Yang passed the problem over to the police.
Hsin Tung Yang does not only set up a foundation to help the Taiwanese people, but they also help foreigners who are in need of assistance. What a good firm! In the future, when I see someone who needs help, I will lend a helping hand, too.
